The Business Controller(FP&A Analyst) plays a key role in
financial planning, analysis, and reporting, partnering closely
with senior management to guide strategic decisions. This role
involves preparing and analyzing forecasts, budgets, and actual
results, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance, and driving
insights to support business performance. A strong analytical
mindset, attention to detail, and solid financial acumen are
essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Flash / Forecasting:
Identify voyages assigned to each management period.
Gather operational data (e.g., voyage schedules, fuel prices) to
estimate slot costs and revenues.
Collect commercial assumptions (e.g., volumes, cargo mix, revenue)
to project contribution margins.
Submit drafts to management for validation and finalize
Flash/Forecast reports.
Perform gap analysis to detect and minimize deviations.
Rolling Forecast (12-Month):
Update quarterly using the same methodology and assumptions as
Flash/Forecast.
Annual Budgeting:
Develop the yearly budget based on Flash/Forecast processes and
inputs.
Monthly Financial Reporting:
Prepare and publish monthly results in Load Engine.
Resolve errors and ensure complete cost input.
Validate cargo volumes, compute voyage/vessel costs, input revenue
and slot purchases.
Coordinate with Documentation and Trade teams to finalize data.
Use Qlikview for validation and produce variance analysis
reports.
Standard Cost Management:
Maintain accuracy of standard costs (e.g., charter rates,
transport, G&A).
Collaborate with other teams to correct any cost discrepancies.
Perform actual vs. estimated cost analysis for adjustments.
Profitability & KPI Reporting:
Generate revenue, cost, and profitability analyses and KPIs as
needed.
Alert management to cost overruns and assist with corrective
actions.
Partner with Trade and Operations to identify cost-saving
opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's Degree required
1-3 years of relevant industry or financial experience
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication
Advanced Excel skills; proficiency in Access
Experience with BI/data modeling tools (Qlik Sense preferred)
Skilled in creating impactful PowerPoint presentations
Strong time management and multitasking abilities
Proactive, collaborative team player with a continuous improve
